Alison Shomi, LCSW 82018
Founder, Supervisor & Therapist
Specialized in working with eating disorders, the emerging therapist & interfaith relationships
Hi, I’m Ali, and I’m so glad you’re here!
Here’s a bit about my background and what I do:
I have a deep, enduring passion for supporting individuals facing eating disorders and body-related struggles. This passion has been shaped by both my personal experiences and over 12 years of professional work within the eating disorder community. I’ve had the privilege of working across all levels of care, and now, in my outpatient practice, I collaborate closely with other providers to ensure that each client receives personalized support tailored to their unique recovery journey.
I’m also deeply committed to mentoring emerging therapists, whether they are students, associates, or newly licensed professionals. Over the past 5+ years, I’ve had the honor of training, supervising, and coaching therapists through common challenges—such as choosing this profession, managing feelings of impostor syndrome, maintaining emotional boundaries with clients, and navigating the complexities of balancing life while adjusting to a new career.
In addition, I’ve spent over 10 years working with interfaith couples and individuals exploring or converting to Judaism. My personal experiences, combined with this professional work, have given me a profound understanding of the emotional impact these transitions can have—both on individuals and their relationships.
I’m here because I believe wholeheartedly in our ability to create meaningful change and live with greater ease. My approach is deeply human, blending practical tools with a deep understanding of the complexities of personal growth, ensuring that change is not just possible but sustainable.
Outside of my work, I’m a proud mother of three boys—by far my greatest accomplishment.
